As most know, we live in a time when the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is playing an ever-increasing role in business operational decisions and implementation. Even so, person-to-person connections should not be undervalued. Perhaps now, more than ever before, personal interactions are essential to smaller business owners in amplifying the message and importance of shopping local. INTRODUCING 'SPEED MEET & GREET' BUSINESS OWNERS MIXERS In March of 2026, we floated out an idea to a few of our clients of having networking mixers whereby all local business owners in attendance would actually meet all other businesses in attendance. Central to accomplishing this objective is a 'SPEED MEET & GREET' session at the beginning, where all participants have no more than 1-minute to meet each business owner present with a brief introduction and the opportunity to exchange business cards and/or other helpful materials. If there are forty (40) participants it takes forty (40) minutes for everyone to meet and greet everyone else. Although the interactions must be kept brief, we leave enough time at the end for everyone to mingle with those they are most interested in establishing a more meaningful and mutually-beneficial connection. OUR FIRST MIXER ON APRIL 6, 2026 MET WITH GREAT SUCCESS!!! Prior to deciding to move forward with it, our idea met with great enthusiasm and support. Major thanks must be extended to the Event Host, Fred Keil of The Village Victor Inn featuring TK's Pizza. The catered appetizers and beverages that Fred provided to all in attendance were nothing short of top-notch. It's no wonder his business is booming! In that it was our first attempt at this, we openly acknowledge that there is room for improvement. One such improvement will be better explaining the importance of showing up on time. Another improvement will be better explaining at the beginning how the 'Speed Meet & Greet' works. Those interested in staying past the time of the scheduled event will find that, thanks to the Event Host, there is more than ample time for continued discussions. That being said, almost everyone in attendance told us they made some great connections and indicated they would like to be invited if we do it again.
